NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – It was far from a dry afternoon, but the rain held off just enough for baseball fans in Norfolk to catch a glimpse of their Tides play the visiting Baltimore Orioles Saturday afternoon.

Matt Weiters, a former Tides catcher now with the O’s, crushed a three-run homer out of the park in the second inning, and Baltimore held on to win a 6-inning affair 4-3. Game officials decided to call the game due to the rain.

The Orioles spent a good amount of time signing autographs and taking pictures with fans before the start of the game. The Tides will open up their season on Thursday, April 3 against Charlotte, while the Orioles open up their season on Mar. 31 against the World Series champion Boston Red Sox.
