King’s Fork grad earns MVP as PIT concludes

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – The handful of players from Hampton Roads once again impressed as the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament at Churchland High School came to a close.

Marquette Senior Devante Gardner, who started at King’s Fork High School in Suffolk, lead his team with 20 points and 9 rebounds and earned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

VMI guard D.J. Covington, who played at Norfolk Academy, finished off his last game of the tournament with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Duke senior Andre Dawkins, from Chesapeake, registered 23 points and made five 3-point shots.
