Tell me about the event
We are walking to help bring awareness and fundraise for research that prevents pre-mature birth and makes sure all babies are born healthy. This is a great way to support babies who have been through the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and made it, while remembering and honoring those that did not.
What kind of turnout have you had previous years and what are you hoping for this year?
Last year we had around 1,500+ people, and we are just hoping for a really great turnout like that again! It’s going to be a really great family day. It’s always awesome to see everyone coming together and the teams with their special t-shirts representing who they are walking for….So I’m excited to see what this year will bring!
What is the fundraising goal for this year? What has been raised thus far?
Our goal this year is $150,000, and right now it’s hard to say exactly where we are at. We are doing really well – especially the teams. They are bringing in money every day so, we won’t have a final tally until ‘Bank day’ which is tomorrow (4.27.)! Hopefully after the walk we can say we hit our goal.
What do people need to bring to the event?
We need everyone to turn in all of their fundraising at the walk if you weren’t able to make it to ‘Bank day,’ Other than that, Comfy shoes!
What is your favorite part of marching in the march of dimes?
My favorite part is seeing how everyone comes together for this cause! Talking to the families and really listening and connecting with their stories. Between that and hearing about all of the great things that March of Dimes has done for their families and continues to do AND seeing all of the babies,… I think that is the most rewarding!
